i only visit ny; i love ny. it's exciting! there's rverything in ny! at all times of day or nite! museums galore! gardens everywhere! ny is wonderful! at least for me - i stay 5-8 days then return to quiet suburbia. and miss the noise - some days.
I guess Memphis would be my "second wife," and Humboldt my third. LA was was only a torrid affair. I seem like one of those characters in a George Jones song. Having moved from NY twice, I can only say that NY was the "best sex" I ever had (so to speak). But that's not exactly where I am at these days. It's about the acceptance of having left, and you feel alright about it. Until I get the opportunity to move to Ireland, where I really would like to locate, I have settled in living under tall redwoods.
btw, I wanted to tell you: I think we're moving back to Greensboro, NC in a year. I love Baton Rouge but NC is our home. Asheville is super awesome...... beautiful. I'm honestly hoping you'll move there though all those other places seem fantastic as well but if you moved there, I would probably see you sometime! Or if you moved to New Orleans or Baton Rouge, but not as easily.
(Greensboro is great too but it's not in the mountains or on the swamp. It is in the middle of tons of universities though. I can start that group and when we move next year.)
What's up, Anna. I just wanted to let you know that a girl I dated for a few months when I was 16 and living in VA has found me through this network. Seems the thing is spreading. Wicked! Where the fuck are you guys now?
We land back in NYC December 16th or 17th or sometime thereabouts. We'll do New Year's in Richmond and then head to the Bay, near...actually, I don't remember why you guys go down there, a cousin or something, perchance?...where you guys visit occasionally. We'll be there until the end of March at least, though I'd like to travel around a bit. After that, I don't know what the hell we're doing. Starting to freak on the money tip. Have you and Justin saved up dough for this exploration, or are you working via laptop and the web?

Thank you for the time and efforts in developing this group. Promotional groups badges will be placed on all my related NYC related websites - blogs to help out with membership development by next year.
Happy and Warm Holidays and a Prosperous New Year 2010 [ " B.H." ].
Anna - the site looks awesome. I am now an active member. Thanks your patience and not for hounding me about this - cuz you know I'm mad slow with the whole online/virtual/cyber movement. Plus, I just killed my FB profile so, I'll be hanging out here more often.
Thanks Anna! I saw your posts and I felt the exact same way about the drive-through ATM...totally weird. I am also a bit nervous about the idea of constantly driving. I barely drive and am pretty awful at it. Overall, how would you rate your experience in Austin?
Hi Anna! I lived in Middle Village Queens until 1986 when I joined the Army. I got stationed at Ft. Bragg and while I was there my brother moved down. He was working at AMEX in the Village and moved to Greensboro after they opened the office here in 1989. He has since moved back but I am still here. I terribly miss the Mets, White Castle, and knishes among other things. Ashville is beautiful, how did you end up there?
I have not been to NYC since 2006. Would like to go visit in the near future. I lived in Austin for four years in 1995-1998. I lived in South Austin off William Cannon. The blue bonnets are blooming right about now and I love Austin at this time of year. However, soon enough it will be the same old routine of summer. That is 95 degrees + and sunny EVERYDAY! Believe it not, that can get old. Welcome to the Tarheel state!
Hi Anna! This blog is an awesome idea. I wish I'd discovered it earlier. I'll definitely write something about the urban geography of New York vs. Los Angeles (one big difference: entrances to things in the parking lot, instead of off the street. Wtf?) Thanks for the LA group link.
Glad to be here, although I must confess I'm such a blog dork, I thought by joining the group on Facebook I was also joining the blog. Have now figured out that this is not the case (you can tell I follow virtually no blogs...I just kind of check in with them). Anyway, now it's official! Hope you're doing well. All the best, A.
