How do you keep up with news from NYC?

After 15 years living in Manhattan I moved to Boston (two years ago)...yet I still find myself wondering what is going on in the big city.  When I first moved I had a subscription to the New Yorker, but found that I would read the cartoon's and little else.

I watch my Facebook stream constantly to find out what is going on, and the general mood of the city.  As an added benefit, Boston almost always gets the same weather as NYC a day later...so I know if that rain storm heading here is just a sprinkle or "Run for the hills" type weather.

I also find myself on ny1.com a lot, but usually after I see something on Facebook that I want more information on.

So I am wondering, how do you keep up with what is going on in NYC?  Or have you left it behind?  Have you noticed every newscaster on your local station is horrible? (or is that just me?)

Hey Mark - this is a great question. I guess I get most of my NYC news from Facebook - seems to be the best way to get breaking news that actually matters to the people I know there. We also get New York Magazine, but only read bits of it. I'll read the NYT online sometimes, and Gothamist is always a good distraction.
